SOUTHERN LABOR TO TAKE A STAND AT GOP PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE

Labor and community to pressure Republicans to end attacks on workers for exercising their right of collective bargaining and freedom of association.

SPARTANBURG, SC—Community members, students, faith leaders and others will join the South Carolina AFL-CIO on Saturday, November 12, 2011, to rally and march on the GOP debate.

The march and rally will begin at Morgan Square in Spartanburg at 6:00 PM, with labor and community leaders representing various groups speaking about worker's rights, social justice and the importance of taking a stand against the attacks on freedom of speech and freedom of association from politicians.

The event has been organized by a grassroots coalition of labor unions and community groups including the South Carolina AFL-CIO, Jobs with Justice, the South Carolina Progressive Network, and others.

The event has been promoted on radio and through on-line social media including facebook, twitter and email.
